July Featured Project

Updated: Jun 26

We began our journey with this plant-loving client in 2016. Through the years, the client has added more and more to their landscape, transforming their yard into a vibrant and unique garden. They have embraced their love for horticulture by planting both typical and atypical garden plants, making their yard a botanical treasure trove.

The client decided they wanted to take on a much bigger project and invest in large landscaping beds in their backyard. We were very excited to have the opportunity to transform their space into a backyard oasis.

Our first project focused on the very back of the property. We created a perennial garden along the wooden fence, which has become a beautiful backdrop and noise eliminator. The goal was to add color and texture without creating a closed-off feeling. After establishing the back garden, we turned our attention to the sides of the property. Finally, we enhanced the area around the AC unit and the screened porch. Stones were strategically placed in the beds for decoration and as steppingstones for easy weeding.

The garden showcases a variety of colors throughout the seasons, making it a dynamic and ever-changing landscape. We have established a great, collaborative relationship with this client. They do day-to-day maintenance while we montly maintain the edging, pruning and plant diagnostics to ensure the health and vitality of the trees, shrubs and perennials.

Today, the backyard is a relaxing retreat where the client can sit, enjoy the beauty, tinker with their plants, and enjoy all the pollinators that make it a point to visit throughout the seasons.

This project is a testament to the client's love for plants and our commitment to creating and maintaining a beautiful and unique garden space. The collaboration between the client and M.J. Design has resulted in a thriving garden that brings joy and tranquility year-round by providing seasonal interest through color, texture, and movement.
