As many of you are aware, the Industrial Parkway / Mitchell-Dewitt Roundabout has been under construction since Memorial Day. The good news is that it is scheduled to open just before Labor Day. This much-needed upgrade promises to alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety at this very busy intersection. The impact of the closure has been felt significantly by businesses along Industrial Parkway, including M.J. Design.
For the past few months during our busiest time, we, along with several hundred other businesses, have had to divert and reroute our teams around the detour. It has added significant travel time to what would be a quick trip to the Northern Dublin Subdivisions and has created a lot of frustration for both staff and customers.
M.J. Design previously designed and installed the roundabout on Industrial Parkway, located closer to Costco. This earlier roundabout, known for its vibrant seasonal colors, was recognized with an Ohio Landscape Association award for its installation. Notably, it has been maintained solely by natural rainfall and M.J. weeding and mulching —a testament to the thoughtful planning behind its design.
For the new roundabout, the focus was creating a low-maintenance, aesthetically pleasing centerpiece. M.J. Design worked closely with Union County to incorporate stone which the country had in storage and select plants that will enhance the roundabout’s visual appeal while minimizing upkeep. Our summer intern, Neeli, from OSU's College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, also contributed her innovative ideas to the design. Ornamental grasses, trees, and additional perennials will be added later this fall to complete the design.
As we eagerly await the opening of the roundabout, we are excited about the positive changes it will bring to our community. In the meantime, we thank you for your patience and support during this construction period. Drive safely and enjoy the improved roads that lie ahead!
